Test driving the Nokia Lumia 720

Although I already have a Windows Phone 8 in my Huawei Ascend W1, I’d like to try the Windows Phone 8 in a Nokia Phone and now I have a chance to test the Nokia Lumia 720.

Testing the Huawei Ascend W1 for Concerts

Guns N Roses was the first rock band that I really liked, there were a lot of talks about GNR coming for a concert here but it always did not push through. Good thing that Lead Guitarist Slash is on an Asian Tour with Myles Kennedy and stopped by Manila last May 4. I finally heard Sweet Child O’ Mine Live!

I tried the Huawei Ascend W1 in taking a video for the Slash concert, video quality was passable except there was a problem focusing if you are far away from the subject. Also, you cannot focus while taking a video and there is no zoom in or zoom out. Although this Windows Phone 8 is really an entry level phone and cannot be relied upon specially for low light photos and videos.

Digital Photographer Philippines 7th Anniversary Party

I have been a member of the DPP or Digital Photographer Philippines Forum and have bought their magazines since they started 7 years ago. A couple of my photos has also been published in DPP Magazine and I was also part of the On Assignment #3 where they took us to Coron, Palawan for Free.

But in those 7 years, I have not been able to attend their anniversary events where they have lots of Free Lectures and Live Shoots as well as great prizes for raffle including cameras, accessories and a helicopter ride from Nikon. There was always some conflict in my schedule during their anniversary events.

I like the theme of the PhotoWorld Asia this year, “Limitless Possibilities”. Today, February 5 is the last day of the Workshops and Trade Show at the Glorietta Activity Center. Speakers this year include National Geographic Photographer Joe McNally. I attended the workshop I think in 2007 and really learned a lot from the different speakers.

Technopreneurship Summit 2013

I attended the Go Negosyo Filipino Technopreneurship Summit last January 21, 2013 at the SMX Convention Center. Attendance was around 5000, mostly students and teachers from Colleges and Universities around the country.

For 2013, I plan to attend at least 1 Learning Event per month and this was a great event to start the year as I learned from the different resource speakers about how to take “startups” to the next level.

Speakers were grouped into different forums with specialized topics each like Technopreneurs in the Silicon Valley, Top Techno Enterprise Models, Enablers/Support Services/Platforms and Top Bloggers.

Congratulations Go Negosyo for another successful event!
